(Provocative Title) Everyone Should Take Their English Courses Seriously
(Unity/ Topic Sentence) In their letter, Minh Lee urges college students to take their English courses seriously. (Adequate Development/ Body) He writes to students who think that English class is not as necessary as their core classes. Minh Lee writes about his own experience and how making the mistake of disregarding his written communications classes was the reason for not getting promoted and moving up in his career. (Coherence/ Conclusion) Minh Lee advises students not to make the same mistake as he did and put some care into their English writing skills.

(Provocative Title) The Structure of a Well-Written Paragraph
(Unity/ Topic Sentence) Unity, adequate development and coherence are the building blocks to writing a well-structured paragraph. (LBH 72) (Adequate Development/ Body) Unity, the first structural element refers to the main idea. Unity is expressed in the topic sentence. Adequate development applies to the body, it means that the paragraph is structured and developed with the main idea. The final quality, coherence, means that the paragraph is consistent and clear with the main idea. Coherence starts in the title and carries out to the conclusion. (Coherence/ Conclusion) To conclude, it is important to have unity, adequate development and coherence to have a well-structured paragraph.

(Provocative Title) The Definition of a Rogerian Argument

(Unity/Topic Sentence) The Definition of a Rogerian Argument is an argument where the writer’s goal is to find a middle ground in the issue they are addressing instead of winning an argument. (Adequate Development/ Body) Rogerian Argument is used to find a solution that all parties can agree on by using a harmless approach. Rogerian Arguments are not used for winning or ending arguments. (Coherence/ Conclusion) Overall, a Rogerian Argument can be defined as a way of finding a solution that benefits all parties rather than just one.
